The story “Flowers and Freckle Cream” written by Elizabeth Ellis, talks about Elizabeth and her freckles. Elizabeth was jealous of her cousin, because she always had the perfect skin. When Elizabeth came to the age she started caring about her looks, she saw herself in a different way, because of her freckles. One day Elizabeth saw an ad in her cousin's magazine, it was a freckle remover. Elizabeth knew that if she saved up she could buy it, so she did. When Elizabeth got the delivery she kept it a secret so her family didn’t know about it. The next day she put it on, and then went outside, which was a bad idea, because when you keep it out it makes the freckles get even darker, and noticeable. Her family noticed how she looked and said that her freckles looked darker. She ran to the bathroom to look and cried, when it was dinner time her mom started yelling at her in the bathroom, so she ran out. She went to the well, and her grandpa came out and said she looked like a flower, she did not believe him. She cried herself to sleep but the next day next to her bed was a tiger lily, and it had spots on it.
It is ok to be different, cause everyone is different from each other it is a normal thing to do. When we are different it is good, because then we have our different religions and cultures. Elizabeth is different from her cousin only because she has freckles, but she should not be ashamed of herself for this. Even when having her freckles she is different from others which is good, because she does not want to be the same as others, because she may have a worse life. When people are different it is good, because then the world would be all the same, and there will be no different religion, culture, or facial looks. When we are different we shouldn’t be ashamed of who we are, instead take pride because it is who we are and without us, many things could change. It also may be hard that we are different but we can take the advantage of being better than others in the future. This is why when we are different it is ok and you should not be ashamed of yourself.
People have different emotions or attitudes towards their differences or imperfection. When we have different attitudes or emotions to our looks, we may freak out or feel bad about their appearance. Elizabeth was looking at herself as unattractive compared to her cousin who was beautiful. Her mom looked at her as a little unattractive even though she was her own daughter. The grandpa though, though she was pretty even with or without the freckle remover because she was herself. Her family also started noticing her freckles, and started responding to them like how they are much darker and uglier. Elizabeth thinks of her cousin as a beautiful person, and that she wished she was like that. When we look at ourselves we should not look bad at ourselves, that would bring our emotions down, making the work a drab place. When the world is a drab place then the world would not be a good place, only for war. When you see yourself as an ugly, unattractive person you should not get down, but instead think of yourself as a better person.
The definition of beauty is “a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight”. When people think of beauty they see it as a person that is stunning or lovely, but other people see beauty in other ways. Elizabeth thinks that her cousin is the definition of beauty because of how stunning she is. Elizabeth describes her as a thin waist, curly hair that comes down to the waist, and she has no freckles. But Elizabeth thinks that she is not attractive because she has freckles. But her grandpa says that she is like a flower with freckles, or a tiger Lily. When we define beauty we should not see it as not only what some people think, but what you think. Elizabeth’s grandpa thinks with the beauty of a flower, and how everyone is like one because they are all different types. This is why beauty should be seen in other ways, not all just in a way people see them as.
The story “Flowers and Freckle Cream” written by Elizabeth Ellis talks about Elizabeth and how she thinks of herself ugly. It is ok to be different from other people, Elizabeth was different from others, and so are other people. Elizabeth did not think good of this and she decided to order the freckle remover. People have different emotions or attitudes towards their own looks, Elizabeth thinks that she is unattractive like her mom who also thinks she is ugly. But her grandpa thinks that she is pretty like a flower, but when Elizabeth doubts this, she sees a tiger Lily with spots, or resembling the freckles. The definition of beauty is when someone is stunning or has a combination of shape, color, or form. Elizabeth thinks her cousin has beauty unlike her, this is because her cousin has long curly hair, a thin waist, and also she has no freckles. The story “Flowers and Freckle Cream” is a great story that shows the beauty of someone even though they doubt themselves.
