Is Wildfire Good or Bad? - Bad

Wildfires are fires that burn in the forest after a heat wave or are started after tiny sparks appear when it is too hot and dry. It can be good, helping us burn away bad weeds, it can also bring the forest a fresh new tone, after the plants are all cleared, regrowing them can get a start to a new tree growing activity, who knows? The black dust made after a full-scale wildfire can fertilize the soil, help new and more plants to grow. But, out of all the advantages a wildfire can bring you it can’t be compared to be as much as the disadvantages it can get you. It can take trees and plants years to grow back to their normal size, and more injuries will occur. Wildfires can harm you and the environment in many ways, from melting ice and causing natural disasters to killing people.

Wildfires can cause economic loss because of property loss from burning houses, farms, buildings, shops, and more. It also depends on how much damage it does and the cost of insurance for the property damage. Economic loss is when a business loses money because of a loss of something usually important, leading the business to many problems, and the business might fall apart later… Los Angeles had a big wildfire that started on January 7 to 31, 2025, that wiped out more than half of the forest. According to the universal governor’s rule, their state value went down by about $76 billion to $131 billion. The fires have led to a 0.48% decline in county-level GDP for 2025, amounting to approximately $4.6 billion. With the damage, the local business has lost $297 million just because of the fire. Because of this, insurance companies know that the chances of a new wildfire coming are higher now, so they have raised their prices a lot just in case it does happen.

A wildfire can release smoke that can affect our lives as well as other people, and also the climate. Wildfires destroy a forest, and we depend on the trees for air. The fire can also cause smoke, causing the air to be a little toxic, and making the air unable to be used to breathed. The smoke can help warm up the globe faster, causing the ice sheets to melt. After the ice melts, there will be a lot of rough waters, or high water, leading to tsunamis. The smoke can also block the view for firefighters or helicopters with water who are about to extinguish a fire. Wildfires can cause many problems, not just the fire but also the smoke, to people and the climate.

Fire is destructive, and it can kill animals by burning their homes, causing animals to fail to escape the fire. It also means it can burn fat more than trees, it can burn plants to even your own house. It also means it can burn organisms, like animals or even people. Since the forest is burning, the animals’ houses will burn too, with the animals inside them. This causes most of the animals to die from either fire or lack of food because the food can be burned. After a wildfire, not many animals will make it to the end anyway, without shelter, water, food, and all of the other essential things they need. The only thing they need that they have is space. After a wildfire, there is plenty of space. After a wildfire, not many animals will make it to the end anyway, without shelter, water, food, and all of the other essential things they need.

Wildfires are some dangerous disasters, but what would be better is if we can get to prevent them. There are many ways to prevent a wildfire. About 85% of all wildfires are started by humans because of our “forgetfulness” for putting out a fire or throwing carrageen still with some fire burning in it onto the trees. We can start by firstly making sure to put out a fire when camping so it is not burning unnoticed or when we are asleep. Second, we can stop smoking and risk inhaling the smoke in the wood, Smoking is bad for you; it can make your lungs turn black. Third, you should consider not even going into the forest in the first place. Why would you want to risk seeing a bear for nothing or just to have a little fun and take a stroll?
