Latitude and Longitude are a system of imaginary lines that cross the Earth. One of the lines goes over the top and goes all the way to the bottom and the top again, and then the other goes across from left to right to left again. Latitude goes from East to West, which is also horizontal across the Earth. Longitude goes from North to South, under and over the Earth, so it is vertical. Latitude is called “Parallels,”. Longitude is called “Meridian.” They are used to measure how far North and South or how far East and West something is on Earth. For example, the North Pole is at 90ºN. The Equator is at 0º(Prime Meridian, which is exactly 0º).
Longitude and Latitude can be used for measuring, and they can also be used to get or find locations on a map to navigate around. It is mainly used for navigation and location tracking. On a map, they will make a cross somewhere, and where the cross is is the location. Many map apps need your coordinates, Latitude, and Longitude combined to find the best route to get you to where you want to go. This includes Google Maps, too, which requests your location. About every meter apart, the coordinate changes. Having coordinates is also good because if you want to go somewhere not listed on a map, you can just use coordinates.
Longitude lines can be used to divide the Earth into 24 different time zones, each about 15 degrees of Longitude wide. As Earth rotates on its axis, after 24 hours, it has completed a full rotation of 360 degrees. The scientists used this information to divide the planet into 24 sections or time zones, each fifteen degrees wide. The Earth can’t be day or night at once, so there are time zones. Time zones are split, so some places have different times from others. According to the time, some places may be noon, so their clock shows noon, while some places are midnight, so their clock shows midnight.
Latitude and longitude are critical in fields such as weather forecasting, where they help track and predict weather patterns. And why do we have weather forecasting? We have it so our citizens know what the weather is going to be, so we can be prepared. We might bring an umbrella or stay home on a rainy day. Having latitude and longitude can help forecast by looking at whether any location is raining or sunny. It can be used in the future when forecasting the same location. Latitude and Longitude can be used to help forecast the weather by locating areas it is forecasting.
Logitude and Latitude are some universal tools that can be used to measure, locate. It can be used to locate items or people—it gets the cords to it. The Earth’s 24 timezone is split according to Longitude, in every different timezone there is a different time that differ by a few hours. The whole world can’t be all in the morning at the same time, that's why we have time zones, where in every different timezone there is on Earth have a different time. Latitude and Longitude can be used to measure too, they are about every meter away from it. Longitude and Latitude can be used for location tracking so weather companies can know what the weather is like in different places. Latitude and Longitude are surely some multi-service, beneficial, and important tools we need in our daily lives to help locate and navigate.
