The story “Nutik, The Wolf Pup” written by Jean Craighead George and Ted Rand is about a little boy named Amaroq and his wolf pup Nutik’s relationship. One day, Amaroq’s big sister brought home two wolf pups. She asked Amaroq to take care of Nutik so she could take care of the other pup, Uqaq. Amaroq fell in love with Nutik, and Nutik always followed him everywhere. One day, the wolf pack came and wanted Nutik to come to their family. At the end, Nutik came back to Amaroq, and they formed a family.
When you love someone, you will want to stick with them all the time, but sometimes love means to let it go. If letting someone or something you love leave you means it is the right thing to do, or it is a better choice or option for them, we should be strong then let them go. In the story, Amaroq was trying to be strong to let Nutik back to his family. We can see that Amaroq had done the right thing by letting Nutik, who is someone he loved, return to the wolf pack. This shows that even though Amaroq’s heart was broken, he decided to be brave to send Nutik back to his own family because Nutik is a wolf. He belongs to the wild with the other wolves, and he was supposed to live with his family. As you love somebody or something, you would like to stay close with them, but things don’t always go as we wish because you might have to let them go, if this is the best option for them. This is a way of showing our love.
Pets are humans best friends, it is our responsibility to look after our pets, they are our companions, we all grow together. We need to be committed to look after our pets, by walking, feeding, playing, and loving them. Taking care of our pets is also a challenge. They rely on us to take care of them. Love is the most important part of looking after a pet. When your pets are well look after, this means that your pet is lively and happy. In the story, Amaroq took good care of Nutik. He gave him several bottles of milk a day, raw meat to eat, and bones to chew. When Nutik was fully grown, he bounced and woofed and his fur gleamed instead of still being sick, small, and hungry. This showed us that Nutik was well cared by his owner, and he was growing and getting healthy because Amaroq took on the responsibility of caring for him well. Pets and us look after each other, we do everything together, and we grow together.
All living things in our nature are under one ecosystem including people, animals, plants, and natural resources. We all have a connection and relationship between each other. We all live under the same ecosystem. What we do impacts our nature, and nature also impacts us. In the story, Amaroq and Nutik had the same relationship between each other. Amaroq and Nutik do everything together, they eat, sleep and grow together. This shows there is a bond between Amaroq and Nutik, just like humans and nature, nature provides us with all kinds of rescouses , giving us food, water and air, we should also look after our nature. If nature and us have the same connection with Earth, is that we all live together on Earth. We should look after our nature and maintain a healthy relationship with it.
From the story “Nutik, The Wolf Pup” I can see the love between Amaroq and Nutik. First of all, I have learned that sometimes love means letting the ones you love go, if this means a better result for them. Then, I found out that having pets takes responsibility, and taking responsibility is a commitment. Pets rely on us to take good care of, even though it could be a challenge, at the same time this helps us grow to be more responsible person. At last, our nature and us share the same motherland, whatever we do to nature, nature will give us feedback, if we look after our nature, nature will give us a better home with plenty of resources.
