The breathtaking story My Very Own Room, written by Amada Irma Pérez, talks about a girl named Amada living in a cramped house with his family and wishes to have her room. After so many uncomfortable nights, Amada finally got an idea. She decided to make the storage closet her room. They went through many problems together, but they never gave up. Step by step, they solved the problems blocking their way and made a good room for Amada. Although she wants her own space, she always welcomes her family into her room.
Every person needs privacy, which gives them time to clear their minds and make things straight, and people should respect it. Privacy doesn’t mean one doesn’t want to play or be with others, it doesn’t mean one doesn’t like each other. It just means one wants some time alone, a place of their own. It’s important because it gives one time to think and rest. In the story, Amada wants her own room. Her former room is too cramped for her because she sleeps on a petite bed with three of her brothers. She can’t sleep in that place, so she wants her own space, a place where she can sleep without worrying about being kicked off the bed. Having some space makes her more relaxed and comfortable. Privacy is important because it helps us keep our personal thoughts and space safe from others.
Appreciation is when one feels glad to have another’s company, help, or comfort and wants to say thank you, sometimes in words, sometimes in action. When a person helps or gives a gift to you, you may express your gratitude by saying “thanks.” You can also express it by helping back or giving a gift to the person, too. In the story, Amada appreciates her family helping her make her room. They helped her organize her room into a perfectly comfortable one. And she is grateful for it, which she expressed by inviting her brothers inside her room and reading them a book. Appreciation is when one notices the goods another person has given him or her, and they’re thankful for it. Gratitude can be expressed in many different ways.
Family love isn’t just saying it in words, it’s done in action and every decision. When I said I love my mom, I don’t just say it, I have to show her I really love her, by helping her, giving her gifts, and many other things to show that I love her. In the story, her family helped her make her room perfect. They love her, care about her, and want her to be happy. But they didn’t say it. Instead, they said it in action by helping and guiding her through the problem. Family love is shown in action, not words.
