Story review of MEET ROSINA

Plot: Rosina is deaf

Genre: non-fiction


 The story is written by George Ancona and it talks about a deaf girl named Rosina. She goes to the New Mexico school, which is a school for deaf. They use American sign language to talk with each other. They learn math, writing, reading and art. They also play sports and Rosina’s team beat all other teams and won a big trophy. Rosina has a big family, Rosina loves her family and she helps her mother to cook food. Most of her mom’s family is deaf, but her dad’s family is not deaf. All people in her family use sign language to talk. 


 Rosina’s school is the same as our school. They learn the same subjects as us, such as math, writing, reading, and art. They also play sports. Rosina likes sports very much and she plays rugby and wins a big trophy. Sometimes, she goes to the school library and makes her own book. In our school, we also learn many subjects such as math, art and English and play sports like football, tennis and basketball. We also have library class. Therefore, there is no difference between Rosina’s school and our school. 


 Rosina’s life is also the same as ours. She has a lot of classmates and they play together. She has a big family and she has lots of uncles, aunts, cousins, grandpas, and grandmothers. Although most of her mom’s family is deaf, they use sign language to talk to each other. After school she helps her mom cook dinner. I also have a lot of classmates and friends. We play together after school. I also have a lovely family. My parents and my brother love me so much. I help my parents do some housework. Both Rosina and I have the same life and we enjoy our life very much. 


 Deaf people’s lives are the same as normal people. They can go to school and have the same education as normal people. Deaf people can also get a job to make a living. In the story, Rosina’s mom and aunt are also deaf and they work at the school. Moreover, deaf people can also have their personal life. They can get married and they can have babies, even with normal people. Rosina’s mom is deaf but she married a normal person. As long as deaf people can have education and make a living, they can protect themselves. Therefore, deaf people can also have their own life and there is no difference between deaf people and normal people. 


 In conclusion, Rosina is deaf and she goes to school to learn knowledge the same as normal people. Rosina’s life is also the same as ours, she has a big family and uses sign language to talk with each other. In addition, deaf people can have their own personal lift. They can get married, have a baby and get a job to make a living by themselves.
