The story Head Body, Legs retold by Won-Ldy Baye and Margaret H. Lipper is a story about teamwork between Head, Arms, Legs, and Body. One day, Head found a cherry tree but he couldn’t reach it. Then he met Arms. They got together and ate some cherries. Then they met the Body. Body helped them cross a river to eat mangoes but they could not reach. Then they met Legs. Head invited Legs to attach with them.  So, Body went to the middle, Head went to the top, Arms were at the shoulders, and Legs were at the bottom. After that, they picked a mango and ate it.


Everyone has disadvantages and advantages,  so none of us are perfect at everything. We are different so we can do different things. We are all special and unique in different ways. In the story, Head could see and no one else could. Hands could pick things up and legs could walk. Body could swim. It proves that everyone has disadvantages and advantages,  and everyone is different. Clearly, we don’t need to feel frustrated about our disadvantages. We should do the things we are good at.


Teamwork is important because it helps us do many things that we cannot do by ourselves. We could achieve bigger goals by cooperating with others. In the story, Head, Body, Legs, and Arms worked together to eat cherries and mangoes. They also used teamwork to swim across a river. It shows that teamwork can be helpful when everyone works together. And also good teamwork will make people feel happy and satisfied. Therefore, teamwork is very valuable if you want to do things better.


It is important to have good invitation skills when asking someone to cooperate with us. We can show our advantages first, and we need to help others realize their advantages. Also, we need to predict the win-win situation after we make a team with them. In the story, Head used excellent invitation skills to make everyone be a team. For example, Head said, “Why don’t you join us? I have eyes and you can walk” to Legs, and Legs said yes. At last,  Head, Arms, Body, Legs worked together to eat mangoes and they made it. Here we can see good invitation skills do work. It makes everyone want to work together as one team. Therefore,  great invitation skills are wonderful at getting someone to work with you.


This story talks about the teamwork between Head, Body, Legs, and Arms. After they met, they got together to eat cherries and mangoes. From the story, we learn that everyone has disadvantages and advantages. We can use our advantages and avoid disadvantages by teamwork. To make a team, we also need to know good invitation skills when trying to invite someone to work with you.
