Benjamin Franklin (1706–1790) was a Founding Father, scientist, inventor, writer, and diplomat. A key figure in the American Enlightenment, he made groundbreaking discoveries in electricity, inventing the lightning rod and bifocals. His famous Poor Richard’s Almanack offered wit and wisdom. Politically, he helped draft the Declaration of Independence and secured French support for the American Revolution. A champion of civic progress, he founded America’s first public library, fire department, and the University of Pennsylvania. Known for his ingenuity and diplomacy, Franklin shaped early American society through science, politics, and public service, leaving a lasting legacy as a symbol of practical wisdom and innovation.
Benjamin Franklin was an inventor, he invented a lot of things and helped to make a lot of things that helped humans. There are a lot of things that you don’t know but it happened around him 250 years ago. The inventions can be Science Inventions, his Writing and Public Service, and his Politics and Diplomacy. He did the kite experiment, he proved lightning is electrical and invented the lightning rod. This makes the people safer on rainy days at home. Before anyone ever heard of vitamin C, he wrote that oranges, limes, and grapefruit give people healthy gums and skin. For the writings, he wrote about his own Autobiography, and “Poor Richard’s Almanick”. Poor Richard’s Almanack is a series of almanacs published by Benjamin Franklin under the pen name Poor Richard. He played an irreplaceable role in drafting the Declaration of Independence and gaining support from France, which directly influenced the success of American independence. He was very grateful, he invited a lot of people. If there is no Franklin, U.S. maybe not independent, on a rainy day, we will be dangerous if we are around electronic devices.
Franklin has many inventions and his ideas are also very advanced. He makes a lot of powerful ideas and it changes the whole world. For basics like “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”, everyone knows this quote. He wrote that oranges, limes, and grapefruit give people healthy gums and skin. He had said the daylight theory. The practice of advancing clocks to make better use of the longer daylight available during summer so that darkness falls at a later clock time. He had a theory, it was the One-Fluid Theory, Franklin believed in a single electrical fluid, where "positive" meant an excess of fluid and "negative" a deficit. Later scientists (like Charles du Fay) proposed a two-fluid theory (vitreous and resinous electricity), which was also partially correct. Today, we know electricity is due to electron flow, but Franklin’s terminology is still used, even though electrons are negatively charged. Franklin’s theory was very useful to the human community, it helps us with health, electrons and a lot. Franklin’s theory every word is true, and it also helps us.
Benjamin Franklin is a Founding Father, he makes a lot of achievements for the U.S. and the people. The U.S. was a powerful country in this time, but if there was no Franklin, the U.S. was very hard to develop. Benjamin Franklin was one of the key figures in the American Revolution. He played an irreplaceable role in drafting the Declaration of Independence and gaining support from France, which directly influenced the success of American independence. His overly emotional accusations against King George III in Jefferson's original draft were deleted, making the document more solemn. Emphasized that “all men are created equal”. From 1776-1778, he went to France using his personal reputation (the French see him as a scientist and enlightenment thinker), and public opinion to shape the image of the American “freedom fighter” and win public sympathy. France formally recognized American independence and provided troops, navy, and funds (totaling approximately 1.2 billion livres of silver). He won over other European countries like Spain and the Netherlands subsequently joined the anti-British camp, further isolating Britain. If there was no Franklin, it was hard to gain the support from France and all those countries from Europe. They helped the United States for Franklin's sake and successfully made the United States independent. Franklin was very important to 18 century’s U.S. If there is no Franklin, maybe the U.S. will become independent after several years.
In conclusion, Franklin was a grateful person for the U.S., even the world. If there is no Franklin, the people will have backward thinking then now. Franklin does a lot of things for the USA. He was a very influential politician, scientist, inventor, writer, and diplomat in American history. He was very famous, and when we goes to USA, we can see on the 100 dollar, there is a Franklin’s image. Even Abraham Lincoln, of the United States, was a politician, military strategist, lawyer, and the 16th President of the United States (1861-1865). As president, Lincoln led the United States through the Civil War. Through this war, Lincoln maintained the integrity of the Union, abolished slavery and liberated all slaves, strengthened the power of the federal government, and promoted economic modernization. The American’s just put his image on the 5 dollar bill. We can see how much influence Franklin had.
