Book Review of Where the Red Fern Grows

The novel Where the Red Fern Grows written by Wilson Rawls talks about a man saying that it was a beautiful spring day and nothing was going wrong at all. But then, dogs barking sounds came straight into his ear. He was just ten years old and it was difficult for him to just hold it and just see dogs other people have. After the terrifying night, the bright morning sun was a welcome sight. Grandpa never overlooked an opportunity to brag. The sky had turned a dark gray. Fast-moving clouds were rolling through the heavens. The ground was turning white with sleet. Then, with painstaking care, I carved their names deep in its red surface. 

Love is something that everybody has and it could be really deep in the person’s heart or outside of the person’s heart. That means like some people are cold and the love is in the heart but people that likes to talk and express their feelings have love outside their  heart. Like in this novel, the little boy loves dogs so much that he even saved one. Love could have different ways. One example is that you  like that person as a best friend because he or she has been really nice to you recently. But love is definitely in everyone’s heart whether it is inside or outside. 

But however, throughout our lives, we will always have at least one loss. It could be the loss of anything. Just like in this story, Old Dan died from getting injuries from protecting Billy’s dogs from a mountain lion. Loss could be the loss of family or loved ones. Once we lose our family or loved ones, it will not come back again. Once it goes away, it goes away and will never come back no matter how much you beg god to give it back. Loss is always gonna be in our life and no matter how much, we should always stay strong. 

Friendship is important to everyone in our lives. If you don’t have a friend, then it’s like something is missing in your whole entire life. You would only have family and if the family is gone, then you will be left with nothing. In this story, Billy made a friendship with Little Ann and Old Dan. They always supported each other. Friends are here to support you and encourage you to continue on your dreams no matter what happens. Friendship means having friends and having friends that support you.
